Liz Sinn, piano

Anya Marie Menk is a musician, educator, composer and lyricist from Le

Center, Minnesota. Menk’s diverse skill set is displayed through

classical and jazz voice, piano and flute. She often sings heartfelt

ballads and original jazz vocalises with her smooth and agile voice. She

possesses the unique ability to self-accompany, walking a bass line and

comping as she improvises with her voice.

She enjoys writing music about social justice, such as her tribute to

victims of gun violence, “How Many More,” and her original vocalise over

“Joy Spring,” that raises awareness for the impacts of climate change.

Menk has been teaching privately for over a decade, drawing inspiration

from many thoughtful and devoted educators throughout her life. Menk is

currently working toward a Master’s degree at Berklee’s Global Jazz

Institute in Boston, Massachusetts. With social activism at the front of

her mind, she plans to continue to perform and teach long into the future.
