December 12, 2025 08:00 PM until December 12, 2025 11:00 PM

Michael Yang-Wierenga is a Boston-based pianist, improviser, and composer whose voice moves fluidly among the worlds of jazz, classical, and various contemporary forms of improvisation. Currently finishing a master's degree in Contemporary Musical Arts from the New England Conservatory where he studied with Ran Blake, Hankus Netsky, and Akram Haddad, he graduated from Oberlin Conservatory with a BM in classical piano and a minor in improvisation. A versatile performer, Michael has played Arabic fusion music with the Boston Landmarks Orchestra and Center for Arabic Culture, solo and duo jazz in venues across Boston, and improvised film scoring throughout Boston with vocal harmony and improvisatory band DREAMGLOW. Although his playing is profoundly informed by his background in the classical and jazz traditions, he seeks simply to meet artists and artistic pursuits right where they are, and bring their ideas to life.
